When goods are imported internationally, government agencies may impose Customs Duties (also called Customs Taxes).
There are three costs required to release of any import shipment from US customs: the customs brokerage, a customs bond, and the cost of the duties themselves.
While you can add customs brokerage and a customs bond to your freight quote when you search on Alibaba.com Freight, the same cannot be said of the actual taxes. The cost of customs taxes/duties themselves depends on what goods are being shipped and are paid to the government via your customs broker only once the goods arrive at port. It, therefore, cannot be included in our quote upfront.
You will ultimately be responsible for the payment of customs duties/taxes related charges, however we do offer 3rd party services for arranging or paying for customs:
the logistics providers or the customs brokers appointed by them will contact you to arrange payment of any customs duties to finalize the process of clearing the goods for entry. When a third party broker indicated on the platform is providing the entry service, Buyers will be making the duties and taxes payment through the Alibaba.com Freight platform.
Shipments and goods may be delayed, detained or withheld from release if customs are not paid in a timely manner. Tip: You can get an idea of what the cost of duties will be using a duty calculator.
